The MEDIARE Institute consists in a non-profit organization founded in 1997 and it is devoted to developing social projects, as well as research, projects and continuing education regarding dialogue processes.
It encompasses a Dispute Resolution chamber and a multidisciplinary frame workforce of dispute resolution experts with different professional backgrounds: Business, Family Companies, Family and Succession, Civil, Intellectual Property, Information Technology, Health, School, Public politics, Socio-environmental, Collaborative practices and research.
Along with CESeC (Center for Security and Citizenship Studies), developed:
- In 2017, a research program regarding the quality of mediation services offered by Rio de Janeiro`s Judicial System (2016/2018).
- In 2018, a research designed to map out the different programs related to community mediation, existing in Brazil.
Every year, since 2016, the MEDIARE`s Yearbook is issued; this work compiles articles regarding Conflict Mediation and Dialogue Facilitation, originated from the compilation of all reflections emerged from the thematic sectors` reunions occurred during the year. It also lends visibility to the Mediators who are dedicated to academic production.
Continuing Education – Update meetings
Updating meetings are monthly offered to the members of the associated panel, seeking the provision of continuous improvement regarding their personal mediation practice. Among the services offered, there is the General Study Group, which is dedicated to themes regarding Mediation, Dialogue Facilitation and General Culture. There is also the Thematic Study and Project Groups, which relate to specific themes and lens to improvement of Mediation practice; as well as, to knowledge and projects development.
Bank of Hours
Every semester, MEDIARE invites the professionals from its training course to integrate the Mediators Panel that provides free hours of operation – the Bank of Hours – for social service and inter-institutional cooperation projects.
Since 2016, MEDIARE has formed a partnership with Saint Thomas University, based in Minneapolis (USA), granting, annually, one of our Mediators with a scholarship in the Saint Thomas ADRs LLM program.
